Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst II/Sr. COBOL Programmer. This is a high-visibility position that supports production applications on a 24/7 basis.
Job Requirements: Requirements:
-Must have a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in developing and maintaining on-line and batch applications that interact directly with relational databases and support a high volume transactional environment where performance is a key factor
-Solid skills in systems development life cycle are required, with emphasis on requirements analysis, detail design, and testing
-Must have strong experience in a mainframe environment including JCL, DB2, SAS and COBOL
-DB2 skills should include the ability to develop and test sophisticated database objects for performance
-Should be proficient in the use of testing and debugging tools
-Must have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently as well as a member of a team, and be able to interface directly with business units
-Ideal candidate will possess the ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement, and independently research new techniques that can be applied to enhance those processes
-Ability to respond quickly under pressure is a must
Desired:
-Experience with open-systems, DB2, and Oracle is highly desirable
-Experience with IBM's OPTIM data migration tool, on any platform, is a definite plus
